Does islam preach an extreme fanatic beliefs or is it made to look that way by the large number of terrorists?

We are well aware that a large majority of the terrorist groups wage war by using extreme power, killing the wealth of nations, raping women and children ( as the taliban and others portray) do it in the name of islam. Does islam really preach such fanaticism?? why is it that many of these extremist groups follow islam?

Islam is a religion of PEACE, as the name suggests. Terrorists, are using the name of Islam to satisfy their personal/political needs. These are the people who are lying at the fringes of the society and are rejected acceptance in the muslim society as well. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to preach the word of Allah not by sword, but by pure dedication and toil. He always used to preach to live with peace and harmony. I would invite your attention towards the attitude of the only world power US towards the Muslim people - as an insight.

Any good that comes from my words comes from God alone, and any mistake is my fault alone. Islam itself is a very peaceful religion. I'll tell you the reason that these "Muslims" you see terrorizing are doing so. It does not come from Islam and the Holy Qur'an, or any other religion and their Holy Book. It comes from the anti-Christ, the anti-Religion. Obsession of the life we're in, and greed overpowering this world. These terrorists are merely well-paid b*tches for the government who are just getting their piece of the pie by ruining the name of Islam. So no, Islam is not the cause, it's greed and hatred, and the LACK of Islamic knowledge, which could prevent all of these things if put into use. Any monotheist religion could. Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam. It's just too bad that people are addicted to money and that this addiction for money is what makes this world go around, it's what runs the TV, it's what major corporations make from the wars, and it's what promotes all evil in this life. And we are just the innocent bystanders being affected by this. But there is no excuse for ignorance. If you decide to take Rupert Murdock's Fox news toxicating views without studying Islam and Islamic countries for yourself, than you are definitely at fault for your actions and words. I hope that some of you open your eyes, because it's not truth that pays for TV, it's money. Peace.

islam is an idea which shows a way for living.islam is a relgouse which wants human to live better. when mohhammed first brought islam many people were being abused. weaker people were forced to work for the stronger ones like an animal(working without getting reward). girls and ladies were being abused. and mohhammed gave respect to weman and made stronger poeple stop abusing the weaker ones. he said to the rich to help the poor. he brought peace and calture. and Quran is a book which shows an excelent way of living.if some poeple in the world are doing these wrong works in the name of islam it doesn't mean that islam is such a relegouse.

The same is true in Islam, one may take the "kill the infidel" litterally and others may take a moderate viewpoint. Islam has gotten a bad name because of the terror tactics of a minority of its believers.
