Im a mum of 3 boys whose dad has custody of them because i stupidly let him. My partner is 49 (im 29) has 3 kids. His eldest son is 26 and twins 16 he hasn't seen for 10 years or more. I've always wanted another baby and it feels like I'm giving up on something I've wanted for a long time. He says he's too old and it would't be fair on the other kids. He missed out on watching his children grow up and I'd love to be able to give him that. What do you think?

Just wanna add that my boys are all ok. They are happy with their dad and I have access with them whenever I want. His twins are at the age where they wont listen to reason and we just gotta leave things for a while. We have tried..

Honestly, I think "he says he's too old and it would't be fair on the other kids." There is your answer, plain and simple. I mean this only in the kindest way, but you need to listen to him. If you get pregnant anyway, he's going to resent it. I believe you might want to refocus on the 3 you already have. They may live with their dad, but they do need you. All women get this "pregnancy bug" from time to time, and you might find yourself saying "boy am I glad I didn't do it" in as few as just a couple days.

I don't think why not?.. Maybe your partner is thinking he is old but actually he is not just tell him, let him know of what you are thinking all this is just for him.. Maybe he thought he will be too old to see the child graduate or raise the child but is ok, coz you are still young and you can do it for him, won't you?.. Why would he said that wouldn't be fair to the other kids?.. But does it fair for you guys?.. Both of you deserve for it.. Go ahead..

You may be young now and must be taking it hard on your health. Imagine for a sec what would be your health status after having one more. I would say at the end you would be like an object. God has given the good health to enjoy manythings not just that.

While it sounds nice in the short term - he'll be pushing 70 when that child would be graduating. Some of my friends who's parents waited to have children till they were "older" used to be mistaken for the grandparents, not the parents. It was embarassing for them!
Not trying to change your mind, only giving you something to consider!
Good Luck!

Why bring another kid into this world on a whim?? (I'd love to be able to give him that...) You probably wouldn't feel like this if you had to raise your own kids 24/7/365. Get a hobby.

go for it. 50 at birth is 68 when child is 18. too old is a state of mind. kids have a way of changing that state.

I think he should have expected this if he married a much younger woman. If his argument is that he is too old to have anymore, then your argument is that you're too young not to. I'd say if he denies you something that is so important to you, then maybe you need to find a younger man?

He's told you himself, he's too old to raise children. What does that tell you? That you are doing it with the wrong person. leave that old geezer and get a younger man who will understand and want to parent your child.
