It depends on the country.

If North Korea developed an advanced weapon, the world rightfully be very nervous. However if a country like the U.S. or Great Britain created one, the world would obviously be safer, as it would serve as a deterrent to aggressive countries.

Duh.

As they say, war is how the differences of nations are resolved when diplomacy fails. Weapons, advanced or not don't limit nations from conflict.

In the early days of WWII the Empire of Ethiopia charged the German Tiger and Panzer tank division on horseback with spears and ancient single shot mussel loading rifles. Weapons are not the deciding factor of going to war. But, they are often the deciding factor in achieving victory.

On the contrary, sometimes weapon development actually acts to discourage would-be assailants. The nuclear arms race during the Cold War provided balance between the powers and prevented the two sides coming to blows. However, as other people have said, it wouldn't be great if terrorists got hold of them or nations belonging to the "Axis of Evil".

No I don't think so. The cold war which bought about the super powers building massive arsenals of nuclear weapons hasn't been the end of us all ..... yet ;)

It could be argued, the more advance weapons become, the more of a deterrant they are to starting wars.

The more technology advances the more likely it is that politicians will believe that they can cause fewer civilian casualties when using the perceived advanced technologies.

So I would say yes, look what's happening around you in the world today.

Believe it or not but its actually the opposite, the more advanced weapons become the more unlikely war becomes for various reasons, you only have to look at the early warning system that America has to alert if anyone fires a nuke at the U.S they are warned immediately and the country who fired it will be wipped out within 11 minutes, thats why the west and the us is concerned about these dictarships and loose cannons, as they kill there own people for fun and its your worst nightmare if they are allowed to develop nukes, they might just press the button without any regard for their own people or country,
many thanks.

No, it doesn't matter how advanced weapons are. "Ha, I've got such advanced weapons, I should use them" doesn't really come up as a reason for war.

Yes, and usually the countries developing them flog off their old stuff to war zones, thus prolonging and stoking up more and more wars everywhere.
