I wanted to become involved in the community and went to this event to see if I could help out or just meet new people and all the locals were snudy toward me, like I wasnt welcomed. "Oh great," I thought here is a town where if you dont have the right last name, you are out. Have you been there, any advice? I want to live here and one day maybe raise my kids here and call it home.

Small towns are like high school full of clicks.
I managed to ingratiate myself into a small town of 400 people, but it didn't happen over night, for the first year all the women thought I was going to take their man away.
small town people also tend to think that big city people want to come for the small town atmosphere but they won't stop coming and it won't be a small town anymore, it is a legitimate fear because I've seen it happen all over Washington.
Keep with it,keep going to events be open, contribute your time and ear, but not yet your opinions, eventually you will be a town fixture and people will accept you, or not then you need to accept that and move on.

Small towns are just that way.
Not an excuse.

Okay here is a real example. My husband is still considered new to his "home town" since he came their at age 8. The milestones are marked by Generations. Its a "good old boy system"

For the entirety of my life and my child's we will still be newcomers to our community.

Best wishes. I just carry on and do what I want.

I have always lived in small towns, and the people are initially guarded, it doesn't mean that they do not like you, they are being protective, that's all. Give it time, and you will fit in nicely, a newcomer in "our" town wanting to be generous and eager, is skeptical in the eyes of the villagers, but once we see that it is not an act, and it is genuine, Trust begins to develop, and eventually it becomes "your" town too.

I have lived throughout San Diego. presently i stay in East county. Its extra ideal than i idea it will be. Out of each of the elements I have lived in, i like Chula Vista the suitable. yet you get extremely some South San Diego haters on right here. Chula Vista is Quiet, clean, danger-free and pleasant.

Try to adapt your self with the society you are living. You can not force them to treat you well though some people hurt you when they try to do good to you.

I am sure they will accept you eventually but it seems you gonna have to "prove " yourself to them..in other words suck up to important people(women)in this town, like baking cakes etc...
