I think Jack Nicholson was the only possible choice for R. P. McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest".

Edward Norton in "Primal Fear".... Matter of fact, every character in that movie was perfectly cast, in my opinion. You're right about Jack Nicholson.... The "Nest" just wouldn't have been the same without him and Nurse Ratched.... and how 'bout Dustin Hoffmann and Tom Cruise as the "Rainman" siblings.... Some things were just meant to be.... Right?

Had to come back with one more thought...... Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall as "Popeye" and Olive Oyl...

O.K., O.K., I'll quit after this one .....
Denzel Washington as "Malcolm X".........Perfect.

I think he was a great choice and probably the best contemporary choice, but I believe Kirk Douglas originally bought the book for himself, but couldn't launch the project while he was young enough to do the role.

Billy Bob Thronton could do an interesting turn on the role.

Ray Liota would have done it vastly different, but made it work.

In his younger years Gary Busey would have done an interesting job.

George Clooney might have brought a new demension to it as would

James Spader

Bill Paxton might have also carried the role

If you do sex swaps

Sigourney Weaver would have done the role nicely.

NIcholson, however, does take such a command of a scene that it's hard to imagine A Few Good Men without him It's hard to see a film like As Good as it Gets work right without him.

I agree with you about Jack Nicholson in " One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest but so was his role as The Joker in "Batman" and when he played in Anger Managment with Adam Sandler who was also perfectly casted for that movie

Bryan Cox as Hannibal Lecter! Even though I am a big Anthony Hopkins fan (and incidentally, nobody else could have done Remains of the Day anywhere near as well), I felt he overegged the pudding with Dr Lecter; Bryan Cox's performance in Manhunter was beautifully restrained, just the right amount of menace - but then, you'd expect nothing less, he is definitely one of the great under-rated!

Good choice, but I'd have to go with Jimmy Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life". He brought just the perfect amount of sincerity and down to earth humanity to George Bailey.

In today's movies, I'd have to go with Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I can't imagine anyone being able to bring the nobility, power, and presence that he did.

Great question!

Malcolm McDowell as Alex in 'A Clockwork Orange' or Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater in 'Titanic'.

P.S. The worst casting would have to be Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon in 'The Da Vinci Code' & I am a Tom Hanks fan...

study your interior of sight, state and federal statutes, alongside with the Patriot Act and word what percentage "rights" you truly have. I used to trust in this u . s .- that it changed into the merely position on earth to stay and be loose. I even volunteered for military service- which I accomplished honorably. Now, if a job with a better effective income or advantages got here open overseas, leaving the u . s . a . and all my "rights" in the back of may likely no longer weigh genuine heavily in my determination-making procedure. Our rights were trampled, and that i really do not see a stunning go back on funding for the exorbitant taxes I pay.
