Sometimes the most arrogant boss may turnout to be the best friend in the long run. Don't bring your ego in job. Because, you will find the other guy might talk sweet but may not pay your salary.

You should expect some unpleasantness in a 'under-graduate' student job. I spent two years with a shop with awful organisation which stocked the most God-awful crap, and was paid and treated badly by the company. However, my managers were good and the people who worked with me were nice which made it all the more pleasant.
This elitist (and possibly sexist) bastard (and working at a university, his mentality does not surprise me) has no right to talk to you this way. Sure, you are only a secretary, but he is simply being offensive. My advice would be to find another job, citing his behaviour as the reason. In the meantime, surprise him by working hard and not complaining when you get menial tasks, unless they are not part of your job description. If not, you may have a line to complain to his superior, and/or ask for a payrise.

I started my career with the same attitude you have, a bad one. After about 2 years and 3 jobs I came to a startling conclusion. I was NOT the boss. I was the lowest rung on the ladder. I turned over a new leaf. I new who authorized my pay check and that was the start of a new life. I did what my boss asked of me. I did it as willingly as I could and kept a smile on my face to the best of my ability. When I retired I was a company troubleshooter. I FIXED problems and I had the authority of a company Vice President. My boss started me moving things around. I learned computers and was an IT guy for a while. I learned more about our product and started writing service publications. Damn I must have had 40 or 50 jobs at one time or another. Then the boss sent me across town to see why something wasn't working the way she liked. I came back and told her what I found and what I thought we should do about it. We did it. That happened 8 or 10 more times before she took me in the office and told me to quit checking with her on each problem. She explained that she had complete confidence in me and that unless I was uncomfortable with an action that I was to go ahead and do it in her name. For the last couple of years I wasn't driving across town, I was flying across the country, staying in $350 a day suites, driving $100 a day rental cars and living on a nice expense account. I just realized, I miss that job. Oh well, retirement isn’t bad either.
Not bad really, a high school educated guy with some college went from making coffee for conferences to company troubleshooter. From minimum wage to over a $100,000 a year plus perks.
So like one of the ladies said, get over yourself. Or you can quit and go home to mom and dad. There is a third option, quit and start your own University. And one more possibility, make yourself a royal pain in the ***, tell them to pith off, get an attorney cry on someone’s desk. Now that will endear you to eveyone and get you one SUPER FINE letter of recommendation.
And if you think this is a bad review of you, lets get out of the public forum. I've had many people working under me and have related this to most of them. Some learned from it, some didn't. Which are you???

Sorry, did you expect to just get a job as President of the World or something?
Count yourself lucky that a) you have the opportunity for education and b) you have a job, however awful it might seem to you.
If you don't like it, I suggest you run and hide back behind mummy's apron, little girl. Clearly not ready to take responsibility for yourself just yet. Eewww, I had to be a porter!

No wonder they give you the dirty (not "durty") jobs. You are obviously far too illiterate to cut it as a half-decent secretary. They need to be able to read and write properly.
Get over yourself, work hard and try to improve your literacy skills. Before you know it things will be improving.

everyone starts from scratch, so its ok as long as your rights are not being neglcted.
On the other hand,if you think that you're already being severely humiliated and the things that your boss asks you to do are already below the belt, just grab your job-description (the thing that gave you the information about your job), read it aloud in front if him, and pass an irrevocable resignation letter!

Quit your job you dont need that remember that you will get a better job and one day because your studying even so you dont have to take that crap there are always ways to earn monye if you are willing to work. Check your contract and what is says your dutys are. you could also try recording what you told to do and how how are treated and sue them for lots of monye good luck

We all have to start somewhere, and your job will get better. Remember you're just starting out and will be taken advantage of until you gain experiance and confidance. One day it will all be worth it, I started life working at Netto, but now I'm carving out a successful carreer in the Prison Service.

You have to decide the best for you. If you can afford it, leave the job and find another one. If you cant, and you need the money keep on working, do your best to obey your boss to a certain limit.

Be polite and raise your concerns with your boss. If he is good at his job he will listen to what you have to say. If not he may ask you to leave, either way stop being a doormat and draw the line!
