Why don't you start using a User Accounts that you will find under Control Panel? Select the Icon and create your own account with the password on it so that your share mate has it own account too when you turning on the computer. And you should not tell your mate about your password when logging into the desktop. In that way, you both have your own setting so you won't get any messages or email from somebody else's because you're in your own settings then.

You might be able to try changing your password, writing it down somewhere safe and then erasing the history in your internet browser - that will remove all passwords (I think). Also, when you're in messenger etc, try actually SIGNING out. That way it doesn't automatically remember you and your password.

The only other option is to create a separate login - or user for the computer.

At worse, stop using the same computer and use another one.

In the meantime, tell your close friends etc to e-mail you instead of messenging you.

Create a new user account and have the other person use that account.

Your messenger and mail crenditials would not be shared to the other user. Works on XP, 2000, Vista

Why don't you just log out? Other people can't access your emails once you've logged out.
And just to be safe, delete the cookies and history in your password.
Tools>Internet Options>Clear History, Delete Cookies, Delete Temporary Files.
