Open up the browser and then -
Click on "Help", then -
Click on "About Internet Explorer"

Under the Microsoft at the top of your screen, click on it, then you should get a screen with choices, click on about this Software, a page will pop up and give you what you are looking for

Go to Help in the browser - then to about - it will indicate what version you are using
I think the latest version is 7.0.5700.6

One would hope you are not using Microsoft IE anymore, unless you like virus' and spam. Try upgrading to Mozilla Firefox.
