Bearshare claims not to be spyware, but it requires you to download a promotional type of program called "When U Save", that causes a lot of pop up ad's on your screen.

As you download things off of Bearshare, it does open your computer up to spyware and adware, so, if you choose to use it, it would probably be a good idea to use a spyware & adware removal program on a regular basis.

It's good to use more than one removal program, as they don't all remove the same things. A couple of really good free ones you can download off the net are: Ad-Aware SE and Spybot-Search and Destroy. Reboot your computer after running each one & it should clean up problems aquired through Bearshare.

Bearshare is a peer to peer file sharing site! You need to understand what this means! You sign up with bearshare and then swap files with other members! You get these files directly from their pc! If they are infected, your tuff luck! Peer to peer sites ALL work this way! The site doesnt provide the files, the users do! If you have a brain, you wont use ANY of them! P2P sites are the primary method of spreading viruses!

If your bearshare is PRO then it doesn't contain any of spyware or adware. So i guess you better pay for any client you wanna get. Or if you're still after free client that doesn't contain spyware or adware. Get a client like Shareaza.
