No need to get technical either like "well ACTUALLY we came from a common ancestor blablabla"

I see humans all the time that look just them, especially black people

It's not meant to be offensive, it's just that black people/africans are more closely related (due to them staying in africa and changing very little) to ape ancestors than other races.

I am a member of one of the several species and subspecies of great ape still alive today - and proud of it. If you are reading this, you are too! God won't hate you if you accept this.

Our extant close relatives are chimps, bonobos, orangutans, gorillas and several species of gibbon. We are all from a long line of extinct ancestors who were also great apes. At some times during our evolution, we have shared the earth with as many as 4 other species of our genus, Homo. The genus Pan (chimps and bonobos) may soon be renamed Homo because of our close relationship with them.

So, we are not only FROM apes, we ARE apes. All scientists and people who have some understanding of taxonomy and genetics just take this for granted. As you can see in some of the answers, those who refuse to see the fact staring them in the face every time they look in the mirror, have been confused by lies and misunderstandings propagated in churches and mosques.

Darwin, one of the greatest individuals of our species, Homo sapiens, showed we were apes, and scientists ever since have proven it time and time again. The latest and greatest proof is in comparative genomics. Even the Pope is holding a conference to discuss it. There is absolutely no debate amongst the rational. WE ARE APES. End of Story.

BTW - No one race is more primative to any other. Africans have a greater genetic diversity than the non-Africans, that's because Africa is our species centre of origin. Africa is your home too!

Mainly because we live in cultures that over-inflate the importance of being human. We are taught directly and indirectly that humans are the most important species on this planet, and are somehow more special than all of the other species (which, needless to say, is incorrect). Therefore, in order to maintain this status, people deny any connection to "more-primitive" species such as apes and chimpanzees. This is especially so if they look like us. You don't hear of any arguements over whether or not we have a common ancestor with fish - although if you go far enough back in time, we have a common ancestor with them too.

(And while you may not be *trying* to insult people with your comment, most people are going to have a hard time looking past your ignorance if you refuse to acknowledge that your phrase is normally interpreted as a racial slur.)

sorry to say we are not in the same side about this.
could I have your favor to have a view from my side ?
Why do people have such a hard time believing that each living thing can have evolution, but they still what they are.
A dog can have evolution (the body, the fur, the face, the brain) but it still a dog. and so is monkey and so is human.

There is still a missing link between animal and human, which can not be proven until now.

Why do people have such believing unproven theory, than the facts that we were human, are human, and will still be human in the future ?

because apes are not people. we may share alot of the same DNA but they are still different. Who knows maybe at one time apes were in fact considered people but over a long period, certain kind of 'apes' or poeple began to experince micro evolution eventually leading up to what a human looks like today, similarly as to the micro evolution that made humans look different depending on the local climate etc, making black/white/brown people.

be careful with the black people part. In French the worst possible insult is causing someone a "macaque" which is a very ugly type of ape. You are saying something dangerous.

No-one with a iota of scientific knowledge claims we came from apes. That silly idea is touted by fundamentalist opponents of science in an effort to make scientific findings look silly.

hey, that's because we don't act like apes do we?
we're not apes because apes doesn't think as we did,
they walk mostly with their hands right? and they're using their feet to eat. can humans do that?
i think no one can always walk around with hands and always using their feet to eat when they have hands instead...

and if we're REALLY are from apes, that means apes should be gone by now... since humans are already existed form thousand of years ago... but i surely think apes are cute.. haha..^^

If you put a human in the jungle would they turn back into an ape? I'd think if it can go one way it can go back, regression.

You just gotta keep on diggin that ol hole deeper, don't ya? Pity.
But to answer, I think people just don't like to face up to truth that doesn't flatter them.
PS I personally think we ACT more like monkeys than we look like them!
