I had to follow up of this..
superman is a living battery with years to hone his powers.
shazam is a mystical being (supes immune to magic)
Solaman-wisest man ever
Herc-strongest of greek gods
arceilas (forgive my spelling) master of combat styles
zeus- living energy (lighting bolts)
atlas-pure power & stamina (holds up the planet)
mercury-speed
If you read "Kingdom Come" then you know shazam had supes on his *** in 2 seconds. The only way he took him out was that he was still fighting as a boy, using the lighting to stun supes. If Shazam was taken under some tactitians wing (bruce wanye) and really utilized his powers supes wouldn't stand a chance. Anybody want to build on this?

Not so fast. Shazam used the magic lightning to stun Superman, but Superman came back and decked Shazam. BTW, that was the tactic that Shazam used in their first encounter, in a Crisis on Multiple Earths saga...one of my favorite stories as a kid.

Anyway, the current writers underdo Shazam, forgetting that he has the wisdom of Solomon, or treating it differently than every other power. That was a HUGE flaw in an otherwise great Kingdom Come. FORGET how old Billy is, Shazam is completely different. If Shazam doesn't have Billy's physique, why does he have Billy's limited wisdom? In the end, Solomon trumps even Bruce Wayne. Shazam should be as good of a strategist and tactician as anyone.

However, Superman is far stronger than Hercules, but would have a tough time against Shazam's magic-induced invulnerability. Their speeds are effectively equivalent (I never bought that Superman was as fast as the Flash) That's where the parity comes in. But as far as strategy? I give that to Shazam, no training needed.

Both being eternal optimists, neither would give up this fight. The Good Captain is the worlds mightiest MORTAL, emphasis on mortal, just because Big Blue depleted his energy once there is no proof that Kryptonians under a yellow sun can be killed by anything other than red sun radiation or kryptonite. And if Supes flew through the sun again would that supercharge him? Also Superman has worked with Batman for years do ya think some of that tactical experience hasnt rubbed off? Sorry guys but I give this one to Big Blue but only if he learns to fight dirty.

Superman has always been faster than any of the Flashes; when was the last time you read a comic in which The Flash went on a mission in another galaxy & was home in time for dinner?

The Wisdom of Soloman probably trumps the practiced tactical experience of Batman, but Soloman would be smart enough to at least listen...two heads are better than one after all.

Captain Marvel's magical nature would probably give the big red "S" at least a little trouble, but CM is *merely* 'the world's mightiest mortal'. No small beer in & of itself, but that almost certainly means THIS world. Which means that someone from another planet is not included in that category. Magic lightning or not, I'm going to go w/ Superman.

("Kingdom Come" totally ruled. Especially the collected edition, with the minor expansion. The sequel, "The Kingdom", to my knowlege, does not have a collected edition. Kind of a shame, as it was the perfect sequel, minus only Alex Ross.)

well isn't shazam the old guy that gave captian marvel his powers? same with black adam. i would say captian marvel could take superman easy or at least he should they down play it in the comics but if you look at his power even if he just almost as strong as superman he is a master of combat style super man has no combat training at all he just uses his speed and strenght to over power everyone. Captian marvel has speed, strength and derability to match him so i would say the arceilas and solarman parts of SHAZAM would be able to give him a majour edge. No to mention his magic that is also one of the only thing that can hurt superman like any other mortal, I don't think bruce wanye or anyone else could help him but i think he should have able to defeat super many easy on his owe. he was actually more popular then superman at one time

I agree with you I am a big fan of captain marvel. But you have to remember superman is dcs flagship character so in the end he has to win. Check Dc an Fawcetts history theres a reason they keep CM 2nd banana to Supes.

I think shazam would win because of the following reasons :
shazam is the embodiment of SIX ANCIENT gods which means he can practically do anything.
shazam s power is based on magic which last time i checked is one of supes weaknesses not to speak of shazam s invulnerability, speed and strength.

Your dead on!

Billy Batson as an adult will be much more capable so then so would his alter ego! Superman is able to be hurt by magic and Capt. Marvel is a magical being so it seems logical that Shazam's warrior would take out 'big blue'!!

Well..something you don't always see Superman using is his superspeed. He's said to be almost as fast as the Flash, and yet, he rarely uses it in battle. My reason being, if utilized, his speed would bring about Shazam's downfall..

Superman would beat Shazam--but it would be quite a battle.
