Sometimes and outside perspective is what you need to see the good and the bad in your life.

However i would not because i have my family to discuss my life with and they are more than willing to tell me where i am going wrong!!!

It depends. If I had a "good feeling" about the stranger, then probably, yes. It's easier, sometimes, to talk to a stranger face-to-face, than to commit yourself "online", when you can't be sure who the other person is - and they can keep a copy of what you say. ;o)

HOWEVER... if I was having problems, I'd start off by talking to the partner so that we could resolve the issues.

You should not discuss personal problems in public places. Your problem is also your partners problem and you should not be discussing someone else's business with anyone but the person it involves or a therapist. Strangers, bars, tacky.

Sometimes it is good to talk to a stranger you will never see again and it can be easier to tell them stuff you may not want your nearest and dearest to know but at the end of the day, talking it through with the partner is the only way to solve the problem.

Yeah I kinda think it would be easier to talk to a stranger over a friend - that way you're not involving people that know you and your partner - and strangers probably wont really judge you.
Also theres less chance of your partner ever finding out that you were moaning about them!

No, you should discuss it with the person you've got the problem with. How would you like your partner spilling their guts about you to some stranger?

Many do as I am sure you know,

It would be a good business opportunity - 'Rent an Ear' some one who will listen to you bleating on about your problems in a sympathetic way at the bar. You would feel secure it would go no further and they may even offer some advice.

What do yo think?

Not sure, but thousands discuss such problems online here, so I would say that a bar would also be a possible location for discussion.

Not with a stranger, if your a woman normally you would talk to your girlfriends first, but i would have it out with your partner get it solved what ever it is!

I think it's very healthy and useful to bend the ear of a sympathetic stranger as they have no issues. Relatives and friends all have their own agenda, no matter how well-meaning.
