A seven month old baby should be drinking a lot more frequently than eight ounces every eight hours. Rather than being starved the more significant factor is that he is possibly being dehydrated. A baby loses fluids a lot more quickly than an adult. At seven months old, barring any other medical issues, a baby should be drinking at least a minimum of 24 oz formula or breastmilk a day, plus eating some solid food AND having boiled water in between when thirsty. This baby is getting the bare minimum. He may be getting hungry or thirsty in between the eight hours due to his increased activity and growth at this age.
I don't know what you can do about your friend. Is there an adult or someone else she respects that you can talk to about this? Maybe you could find someone older that she looks up to, they might be able to approach this issue with her seeing as she gets mad with you.

If the 12 ounces was too much he would spit it up. If he doesnt spit it up then she should let him have it, especially since he is still hungry after the 8 ounces. I have a 6 month old and she drinks 7 ounces or more every 5 hours. Shes very healthy and happy.

Does he spit up when you give him more than 8 ounces? If not, then he's probably hungry enough to eat more than that (although I've never heard of a baby who was able to hold more than 8 or 9 oz. at a time). If he spits up when you burp him, you're probably over-feeding him. Both my boys never seemed to have the "I'm full" mechanism in their brains. They were much like horses in that they would eat until they'd make themselves sick. lol
How old is he? Maybe he's actually full after 8 ounces and cries because he still wants to suck on something. Have you tried a pacifier to see if that works? If he takes to it and drifts off to sleep or becomes content, he's probably just trying to soothe himself. If he spits it out and still continues to scream, he's more than likely still hungry.
A baby's stomach is the size of his fist.

Give the baby what is prescribed. He is only 7 months - not old enough to know when he is full. He cries possibly because he likes the taste of the food, not because he is not full.
Dont stuff the child. Let him be. Distract his attention from the food, by showing him some toy or something attractive.
Finally, it is your friends' baby. She is right in being upset.

Feed on demand- they eat what they need at that age. There is no set amount, and she should not worry so much about sticking to an estimate of what an average baby consumes. You are doing the right thing. Also, you may suggest that she start him on some cereal or soomething more substancial. If he is sucking down that much formula and acts hungry- he may be ready to fill up on some nice rice cereal or baby oats. Take care!

I feel you my dear. If I were you I would never let that child go hungry. Plus if he is only 7 months old, I dont think that it is that bad to give a baby nourishment until he/she is full. You cant help but to feel bad for the child. I mean he is only a baby who can not express himself and you dont want him to go hungry. This is a tough one. Why dont you ask your local pharmacist. Instead of calling a doctor because they are hard to reach, why dont you go to like a Savon's and ask a pharmacist there, they will help you out and most of the time they will have the right answer. Anyway good luck and I would not let the child go hungry, I think that you are doing the right thing

If he is hungry I'd feed him= the ounces he is suppose to eat are approximate-not all babies have the same apetite- or weigh or grow at the exact same rate. Maybe she is trying to go exactly by the book-or when the baby was younger. Get her to ask her pediatrician. D

its alright to give him all he wants but in some cases went burps he'll just vomit.
As much as possibly just give him what he is suppose to have so he won't weight like a 3 year old when he is only a year old. remember too much of anything is bad for you and that is also the case for babies. He might grow obese you know and might affect his heart.

8oz per 8 hrs is equal to 24oz a day.

At this age 24 to 32 oz a day is what a baby should get.12oz at one feeding really is to much.Try giving him 6-8oz of formula followed by a jar of baby food.Every one is right every baby is different but that said 12oz is way to much at one feeding.Anyway it is her child and believe me mommy knows best. You should feed him the way she does. They will eat as much as you give them.Im sure she is not starving her kid.

12 ounces is just enough for a7mo. old baby because 8 is too little for him.since he is more active physically he needs to eat more often and is ready to take solid foodslike congees and vegetables.exposing him to different tastes of foods will do him good.
