Go see an esthetician that does something called a Green peel. Look up Spas/Med spas in your phone book or online and call around and ask about it.They work amazing for acne. Also, what is your diet like? You may need to cut down on salt, oil and sugar( Basically junk and fast food.) Lots of purified water with lemon is good to flush out your liver. If your diet is not bad, are you washing your face with a good cleanser morning and night and not touching it throughout the day? Acne is heriditary and is the primary cause. Secondary is hormones, hygene and diet. The birth control pill can help if it is hormonal. I know Acutane has gotten a bad rap, but I was on it for six months and never broke out again. I only recommend that for bad cystic acne though.

www.acne.org
This is a great site with lots of useful information. I was able to get rid of my adult acne with the suggested "Clear Skin Regimen". Following his METHOD is what did the trick. It wasn't a specific "magic" product. He actually suggests several, cheap, drug store brands that can be used. The cost of clearing up my mild acne was about $7.
Please read the entire site before trying anything that is suggested. You may need to see a dermatogist first.
One other thing that not many people will point out:
Steroids and some street drugs are a source of acne.
So, be careful about messing around with any of that stuff. As if you need any more reasons not to do drugs. :)
It's tough going right now but you will get through this!

Here is the thing acne medicines and acne soaps actually make the problem even deeper. So they just treat acne not heal acne so what you want to do is find something that will work for you,I recommend seeing a homeopath homeopathic remedies work on the entire body and you as an individual rather than the disease or condition. So the end result is you heal the problem good luck.

Go to a dermatologist. Find a good one who has been around a while and knows what they're doing. Don't try accutane right away, see if some other/less harsh medications work first. Different things work for different people - don't give up. some over the counter products may work but if you have a large amount of breakouts, you may need stronger stuff. I tried that homeopathic stuff for over a year and it didn't work for me, but it may for you. Don't be afraid to experiment. Try the message board at www.acne.org - the people on there can be very helpful and they all have first hand experience - they are going through the same thing you are.

The very best advice anyone could give is to see a professional for your problem skin. If unaffordable, you may be able to work out a payment plan with them. If you are young and still at home, perhaps asking a parent to take you for a Dr visit is at least a beginning. A regular Doctor possibly can treat you, or refer you to a Dermatologist.
Problem skin is caused by many factors including diet, cleanliness, stress, harmones and oily skin. While you are waiting for your appointment you can try holding warm washcloths on your face to soften and open up the pores. You can use a product found in any pharmacy made especially for acne. Don't touch your face with out washing your hands, as you can transfer germs to your face and make it worse/ Wash your face often. ..drink lots of water to flush out the toxins in your skin...Best wishes to you.

Dont try and over wash it. Thats the mistake i made when i used to have really bad acne. I went on the pill, washed my face with gentler cleansers or water and although it'll sound weird, but MOISTURIZE! And mine all went away. Avoid touching your face as well, because you'll just transfer all the germs from your hands onto your face :s

for acne removal... apply a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and wash off with warm water. this prevents acne, pimples, blackheads and wrinkles.
or... extract juice of a lemon and mix equal quantity of rosewater. apply mixture on face and let it stay for half-an-hour. wash with fresh water. for 15-day application, this cures acnes, pimples, reduces blemishes and scars.
if not... get some rosewater in bowl. add equal amount of cucumber paste on it. stir it properly and have a pack of it for 20 minutes. it will also help in controlling pimples.
