Is Virginia the old south especially southern virginia?

Definitely. South of the Mason-Dixon Line and all that jazz. STILL pretty southern, I think, but in the best ways possible (hospitality, etc.).

Yes, Virginia was one of the original southern states. In the movie Gettysburg, when they are rallying the troops before battle, they even make mention about fighting for old Virginia.

Pretty much. Historically- Virginia has always been the gateway to the South...

historically yes.....Virginia played a big part in the confederacy during the civil war......Robert Lee fought for the south because Viriginia was a part of the south and Virginia was his home state, probably more than any other reasons....so it is said at least.
