Use the pumice stone while in the shower.
At bedtime: then use shea butter on the heels - put on socks for bed and sleep in them.
Going barefoot a lot or always wearing sandals may toughen the heels - so try to baby them a while. It will take time, but don't give up.

i know a lot of people have recommended pedicures--do this only if you're willing to go in and get a pedicure every-so-often because the cracks will come right back. It might be because of a skin condition or just because of the weather...
if it bleeds and is really painful, then it's probably a skin condition. Try going to a dermatologist to find out what's happening and use lots of thick lotion/eucerin cream, something like that.
if it's just because of the weather, then make sure you put lotion on and pay a little more attention to your feet than the rest of your body. If it's because of the weather, you should have little cracks that don't hurt very much. as mentioned before, all you have to do is take extra care of your feet for this kind

Go to WalMart or your local farm supply store and buy a can of Bag Balm. Sounds crazy but it is much better than Carmex or Burts Bees and almost always works over night. People have been using it for many many years for such things as dry skin, hard caloused hands, chapped lips and many other things. It is medicated and works very well for almost anything. I personely use it for dry ashy elbows and it works great. Walmart stocks it in the pet supply section. It comes in a square green can that says Bag Balm on the side and Vermonts Finest on the lid. It has a picture of a cow and some red roses on top of the lid.

Soften the skin on the feet by either having a bath or by soaking them in a bucket of warm water.
Clean the feet, then gently use a pumice stone to scrape off the dead skin.
Then rub in a greasy moisturiser (I use eulactol) and put each foot in an individual plastic bag (that's one bag per foot) and then put a sock on over the plastic and wear over night.
If your feet are particularly bad, I'd suggest a visit to the podietrist for a clean up and check before doing this.
Good luck.

Start getting regular pedicures!!! Or, if you don't want to spend the money, soak your feet in warm water for 20 minutes, then scrub them with a pumice stone. Do this once a week to keep feet looking nice. Also, apply lotion when you are done soaking/scrubbing feet, and put lotion on feet nightly before bed. Putting lotioned feet in socks makes the lotion absorb better.

I would suggest to get a pedicure, you don't have to go to a spa to get one either. You can buy the kits and do them at home. Thay usually include a soak, a moisturizer and a lotion. They will usually have a brush in them to so you can scrub off the dry dead skin. Not only is this relaxing but it softens your feet. I used MaryKay and Avon.

Soak your feet in water, use a brush or 'scraper thing' (or buffing/gritty cleanser) to remove some of the rough skin and then use a good moisturizer.
Make sure you dry your feet really well, before moisturizing.

Use a foot file, if you have very bad callouses, shave off the thick parts of dead skin with a straight razor (VERY CAREFULLY), quit going around barefoot, use a very thick lotion (udderly smooth, or bag balm) every night and after every shower and wear socks to help keep the lotion on your feet and off the floor!

Pedicure and baby oil gel while your feet are still damp. Make sur eyou cover the feet with socks right after moisturizing them. Sleep. It should improve in the morining. If you continue to do it nightly, it will get softer with time.

they do have skin files (emery boards) that you can use.. it will take the callous build up away... mine that I have looks like a little blue foot print and has two different grades of... I guess it's like sand paper... on them... then you can take off the buildup of rough skin off... I use it in the shower when the skin is softer and comes off easier... it doesn't hurt or anything just smooths out the rough parts of the heels (or at least that's my problem) If it's somewhere other than the heels or the ball of your foot.. then just use lotion.
