Yes. Usually lost or abandoned pets who know humans are usually kind and will share food and shelter with them. Sad, isn't it. I think of my best dog ever--Rainbow--who wandered up half-starved and raided the bag of shrimp shells I put out on the kitchen steps overnight. I fed her baby food from a gift I had prepared for a family with a new baby and she spent the next nine years with me, always sleeping with her head on my foot to prevent my leaving her while she was napping. The dog adored me. I just wish I had loved her as much in return but that was impossible, for I am only human.

Animals seem to know who's a sucker for them. My neighbors cat broke out of her house while she was gone camping for three days (popped the screeen in the window out) and couldnt get back in. Of the 7 units in my building most of the tenants dislike cats; yet the cat knew to come sit on my step and mew when it got dark and she got scared of all the heavy traffic etc.

Animals just seem to smell the type of people that will care for them. They probably try to stay away from the people who will hurt them (I hope). Feed the cat, they are independent. Try not to THINK TOO MUCH- you'll start crying. I love animals.

2 thoughts: If you are taking them in or leaving food out, then they will keep coming.
Secondly,........You are a chosen one, and I bet it makes you smile.
Enjoy your new kitty.
