Sprinkle salt (sea salt works best because it is coarse) onto a sheet of waxed paper, and place an old scrap of cloth UNDER it. Iron on top of the salted wax paper. It will clean it by scouring the iron off, then just clean anything left with mild soap and water, as it should be loose enough to come right off. This is how I remember my mom cleaning hers, although I have seen some sort of cleaner that you rub onto an old rag and buff onto it the iron. I think my old roommate bought it around where the starch is at the grocery store in a small tube. Always use distilled water for steaming to prevent problems. Good luck.

Well, I have clothing just for "feed time." But if I am in a hurry, and she does get something stained, I will soak it in cold water over night, and then wash with my regular dreft on hot if they are whites. and warm if they are colors. Sometimes I make a paste out of Surf, and then let it set overnight, or at least a few hours. I do this when I don't have time to soak, or don't feel like messing with it:

I use Brillo Soap Pads. Wet the iron and the pad and start rubbing. Do not scrub! Rub. Unless of course its really bad, then I guess you can try scrubbing. Scrubbing means you can feel the pad scratching the surface,
