Sorry that this is a little off topic, but your question reminded me of the use of geographic randomness I once experienced.
Once 2 friends and I were driving back from northern most part of the center of California, near the Oregon border, back to our homes in the Bay Area.
I am A. The other two are B and C.
A: "We have a little extra time, so let's each pick a letter of the alphabet. Then we will look on the map for a place with those letters and drive back through that place."
B: "Okay, you go first."
A: "E"
C: "L"
B: "J"
A: "J? J?!?!?! What the hell kind of pick was that?"
B: "You said to pick a letter."
A: "How many towns have a letter J in them? What are the chances we are going to find a town with E, L an J between here and home."
C: "Elj is the Norwegian word for elk."
A: "Wait I think I saw something on the map. Here it is Elk Creek and it's not too far out of the way."
It turned out to be an interesting drive. We discovered a string of small valleys running parallel to the huge Sacramento Valley. These remote valleys have few towns, Elk Creek being the biggest. This happened about 20 years ago. Since then Elk Creek has grown to a wopping population of 600, but that must include farms for miles around it.
I have driven through those valleys a few times since then. A few minutes ago I checked an online dictionary. B was wrong. Elk in Norwegian is elg, not elj. So randomness and a mistaken translation led to an interesting adventure.

Adventurous: Yes
Would I do it? No
What do I think about this idea? As long as you're prepared to move again if you don't like it, then yes, go for it. Or, point to the map location, then ask your question here about what people think of that town. Then decide if you need to choose a new place or not. So, yes, go for it! Sounds interesting.

I think its a great idea. As long as you are finacillay stable enough to pull it off. Im from North Carolina and i live in a small town here and i've always wanted to just pick up and move to a town called 'New London' it just sounds really pretty and like a great little 'Stars Hollow'(Gilmore Girls reference) but i dont think im stable enough just yet. But for you i think you should go for it!

Thats interesting.. but what if you land in a bad spot? They have a show about that. Where they just throw a dart at a map and then go there and interview someone. Then they have that person throw the dart and so on and so on. its cool that they interview normal people.

That sounds awesome! When you get there, open up the paper, close your eyes, and point to an apartment ad. Do this for your job, what to eat, and clothing choices, too!

I think it's a cool idea, if you are up for it - I would go for it if you have the time, money and desire too.
