What about real life terror--things that scare us as in the monotony of our lives? World War? Terrorists? Cancer? AIDS? Bankruptcy? Addiction? Rejection? Is there a switch or button we can push to avoid these fears? If not, how do we learn to cope?

we all have our own fears or discomforts in this life.sometimes we are able to work through our fears with others somtimes we have to go it alone, depending on what the fear is.the one thing i have learned is that you can't truly LIVE your life, if you live it fearful.as hard as it may be to accept, there is good and bad in this life.that just the way it is.if you believe in god ,pray for wisdom and strength to face the trials and tribulations of this life.as long as you are alive, you might as well live!besides sometimes our fears are right in our own heads.real life terror ,things we have no control over, are things you hope you don't have to deal with ,but live your life in spite of them.

No magic button. Very sorry.

Getting information and talking to people with experience helps some of those fears( addiction; rejection.) Talking to doctors about what you can do to prevent AIDS or cancer - and doing those things - makes sense. Taking action is a good way to handle fears. For terrorists, i think learning to be aware when people are acting odd, doing unusual things ( like when someone sets down a briefcase and walks away, leaving it behind.)

Afraid of World war? I think most of us are, at some level. sometimes talking helps, so you don't feel alone.

Even after getting info, and talking to each other, at 3 in the morning, you are facing your fears alone. It is better to recognize them and take prudent precautions.

If you deny the fears ( pretend you aren't afraid) you are getting the worst of all possible worlds.

you didn't learn real information.
You can't take practical action or precautions,
you don't get help from other people.

Well firstly if your worried about all those things your paranoid.
There isnt a button u push.
You dont learn to cope u just do and if u cant u go 2 your phyc or docter and they give u pills that help u cope.
U face your fears alone, but others can be there for moral support.
Enjoy life, stop worrying about every little thing. It will be fine.

we have to learn to cope. a loving family will provide support but you eventually have cope alone. you can then support others going through these fears and create a support system based on your knowledge.

Such is life.

ultimately we are dealing with them on my own. the only thanks to stay away from them or cope is to end seeing them as fears. look on them as annoying situations which will or would no longer come your way (given how severe your examples are it really is totally unlkely).
