Yeah, but first let me say that I don't really look like that picture. A while back I checked out a library book just to have something to read. It was called "The End of Poverty," by Jefrey Sachs. I wasn't expecting much. I put the book down at 4:00 a.m. The author turned out to be a distinguished economist who is, among other things, a professor at Columbia University. They lured him away from Harvard. His biggest cheerleader is the entertainer Bono, lead singer for U2, who is or was one of his students. Professor Sachs founded an organization called Millennium Promise. They recently Got a $5,000,000 pledge from George Soros. They have a website at www.millenniumpromise.org. I had trouble at first because I spelled millennium wrong. Check out the website, but please read the book. I read it twice.

Another good one is "The discovery and Conquest of Mexico," by Bernal Dias. He was a conquistador by trade, and may have told a few fancies to impress the king, who probably never opened the book.

I'm a voracious reader but mostly not of novels. I actually read the Bible from cover to cover not long ago. Hardly my usual style. It's got some really wild stuff in it, and a lot more sinners than saints. It's the collected work of an awful lot of people who had no idea they were writing the Bible. It was assembled over a period of centuries. I don't think one Bible thumper in a hundred has read the whole thing.

The Broke Diaries!! I love this book! It's about a girl struggling through college, work, credit card debt, and a whole stream of mishaps. She even hits on "the black pants". You know the pants that all girls have that they wear to the club, job interviews, and to school LOL! The whole book is pure comedy! It's a true story too.

the world is dotted with many people hailing from different communities and ethnic backgrounds.but thanks to the development of the human language all of us can express our thoughts in one language or the other.hence this question on books has gained quite a global aspect.the books that changed my life are--
1)FREAKONOMICS--this book has dealt with simple issues in a logical way and the author has shown us how simple day-to-day problems can be solved by economics....this book is not only engrossing but also shows the way of living life logically.
2)HARRY POTTER--no doubt many enlightened citizens will term it as kiddish and not meant for the "adults".however this book not only shows us that we can achieve wonders by our creativeness but also portrays the importance of friendship and its various aspects.it shows us that academics is not the only be all and end all of a mortal's life.
