Tylenol (acetominophine--any generic will do)and soothing baths. Lots of fluids and light foods. Lots of rest. None of these will hurt you or the baby. If you are having a fever, please go to emergency room if its very high.
Hope you feel better quick. :)

There's some really great information in the links- most medications are safe to take while breastfeeding, in fact. General advice:
-avoid taking combination drugs that treat symptoms you don't have; it's best to take the minimum amount of drugs possible.
-be careful with decongestants; in some women, they can hurt milk supply- if you take one, be watchful and stop if you notice anything.
-before you go to drugs, you might try non-drug therapies- hot baths, hot compresses on your sinuses, lemon and honey for your throat, etc (more info in the links)
-KEEP NURSING THAT BABY
The best way to make sure that your baby doesn't get sick is to keep giving your child your milk. Your milk contains the flu virus, sure, but it ALSO contains the specific antibodies for that virus. Additionally, if you go to all pumping, or you stop nursing, you risk getting a breast infection on top of the flu- not fun.
Hope you feel better soon!
ETA: there's really no point to trying not to spread your flu to your baby- just by breastfeeding you're passing the virus on. It just doesn't matter because of the immunities you're passing on as well. So, no need to do extra hand washing, or nipple sanitizing.

My doctor told me that I could use Tylenol for pain and fever. I could also use Dimatapp for cold symptoms. He said only to use 1/2 the recommended dose and not to take it within 1 hour of breastfeeding. If you can't talk to your doctor right away, you can go to webmd and ask about it or call 1-800-GERBER. They have RN's there around the clock and they can tell you the effects that any med can have on your baby while breastfeeding. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!!!

Make sure the medicine that you take is safe for breastfeeding. Because it will be pass on to your baby too no matter how miniscule is the amount. I'd say take a recommended dosage of Tylenol and when you breastfeed your baby make sure you sanitize your nipples and your hands too. And go to your doctor ASAP!

I nursed exclusively for the first 7 months, and encourage others if they wish to, but for health reasons, you might consider giving your baby formula for a day or so until you are feeling better. Continue to pump your breasts so that your milk will continue to produce, but as long as any medicine is in your system, do not breast feed until the doctor says it is safe.

breastfeeding ur baby is the best way to strengthen her resistance to your germs and to keep her healthy. she can catch cold germs through your breastmilk, though she can become infected through other contact with you. always wash your hands to minimize it before you holding her
To speed your own recovery as well as keep up your milk supply and your strength while you have flu, drink extra fluids ( water, juice, soup, decaffeinated tea) and vitamin supplement plus eat well.
Tylenol is save too for your baby.

Old folks say that breastfeeding even if you have aflu is just ok for the baby.just make sure you cover your mouth to avoid direct contact to the baby.if your baby is over a year it is best to introduce him to fresh milk or formula milk.

i got sick and still breastfed. it seemed like the milk strengthened his immune system so well that he didn't get sick, but to be on the safer side; pump.
