No cocoa products darken skin. However, it is very good for people with dark skin, or pregnant woman or someone after weight loss surgery to help the skin absorb moisture.
There are many products to darken your skin. Applied to the exterior and pills taken internally. Both are not regulated and can cause splotchy or weird colors.
I would contact a local spa or "Dark Tan" and ask about the spray tans or application tans. They are much healthier for you skin. Tanning is really REALLY bad for your skin.
I have very fair skin- very white girl! I used these both spray and application "body bronzers" and I was really dark, like freaky dark. Brazilian dark, they did my ears, eyelids and anything I wanted.
IT was funny, I had these privacy disc over my boobs and they were snow balls and it was too funny-they like glowed white in the dark.
I highly suggest totally nude for the best result. Do put a sticker on you, to show off that tan line. My friend wears an old watch and anklet so that the lines show...funny huh! Get waxed the week before and/or shave two days before.

I don't think any of those ingredients should cause you to tan. Read the label - does it say anything about being a self tanner?

It shouldn't. It would only have a tanning agent in it if it said it on the bottle.
Ring the company that makes it if you are not sure.
