***hole is definitely more to the point. It is concentrating on one specific piece of the ***. You could almost think of it as adding a more descriptive adjective to the noun of *** by throwing in the hole.
I would take it as a compliment, you were worth 2 syllables and 7 letters to someone, instead of just 3 measly letters and 1 syllable.
