Hey Hon,
I've been where you are! Make sure you take your medicine like your supposed too! I had zofran, it really helped me!
Had to take it through out the rest of my pregnancy. Make sure you are eating three small meals a day and and three to four snacks! Try bland and non-greasy foods: such as skinless chicken, pasta in cheese sauce, steamed vegetables, and plenty of fluids(hopefull you haven't and won't have to experience the kind of dehydration that requires weekly appointments and weekly trips to the hospital for IV fluids)!
Try having a snack of dry toast or saltine crackers and weak tea before you get out of bed(but beware of teas, some herbals can be harmful to fetuses)!
Otherwise, I've heard that ginger tea/snaps(cookies)/ or ginger ale can help(they didn't help me however). Also, sour bevarages such as lemonade were suggested.
But what actually helped was: peppermint candies(something in peppermint oil is supposed to soothe an upset stomache) and saltines.
If you are having severe morining sickness and have thrown up a lot, it is normal to loose weight or have poor weight gain.
It is of great impotance to make sure you go to your prenatal check-ups, especially with as sick as u've been. Some hospitals have charity assistance if you can't pay that can cover part of or all of a bill.
If you have other syptoms such as: edema(severe swelling of the hands, feet, and/or face), severe migranes, drastic vision changes or disturbances, and hypertension(your doctor can tell you if you have this), it could mean you have pre-eclampsia/ toxemia.
Toxemia is serious! It can mean seizures during labor and for up to 72 hours after or deathe for you and/or your baby during labor! This can be checked by a simple blood test to check your liver.
Get yourself some maternity books! Some good ones are: What to Expect when you're expecting, pregnancy and child birth . . ., and I'm not sure what the name is any more but it is by Sheila Kitzenger(this one was my favorite).
Hope this helps!

this depends on your weight before the pregnancy and if it was average or over or under. even if you are average, you may have only gained not alot or very little and still have been safe. there are a few websites. do a search for "pregnancy weight gain" there are some tools online to determine about how much you should gain. I was a bit over weight when I got prego, I am 27 weeks now and have actually lost 5 pounds. This was from stopping drinking soda, and eating a ton healthier. I feel healthier also. I would not suggest trying to loose weight while you are pregnant though. this is just a result of me living a healthier lifestyle. let me know if you have any more questions.

i am 19 weeks and have lost around 16 pounds (had a check up today and gained 3 lbs in the last three weeks!). i also am on zofran. my doctor is very concerned about the weight loss. i hear a lot of women say this has happened to them and their babies are healthy, and i use that as my hope everyday that everything is okay with baby. it's scary, i know. no one can tell you for sure that what you are doing is going to be good enough for the child. i worry that maybe the potential lack of nutrients will show up in my child's development later in life. this isn't how i imagined my pregnancy at all!! i wanted to be doing all the right things, and be "glowing" and happy. instead i am sick, weak, tired, crabby, barely keeping anything down, and looking like hell!
i saw someone suggested ginger...don't do that, it can lead to premature birth or miscarriage.
i wish there was some magic cure for this out there, but i'm sure you've heard everything i have, and none of it worked for me. the zofran is helping now though.
i feel for you sweetie. this is suppose to be such a great and exciting time! i feel i have been robbed of it so far. it's hard to get excited when you feel like crap all the time!

No, that is pretty normal. I had gained maybe 2 lbs by 16 weeks, maybe and by 20 weeks I had gained 4 lbs . Weight usually starts to come after 20 weeks I find (in both my pregnancies anyways) this is when the baby does the most growing. Good luck

I am 17 1/2 weeks with my second child. I have lost 4 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. I just went to the doc two weeks ago and he didn't say anything about my weight. I don't think it is a problem. Just be sure to eat something even if you feel sick. It is not good for you to stop eating because you may throw up. Try eating crackers. That helped me through my first 3 mts. Good luck!

Until you kinda get over the morning sickness thing you might not gain that much weight.
Go get another check up from your doctor and tell him you concerns. When I was pregnant I didn't gain show until I was about a month away from delivering, but I did gain weight, just in my belly though.
Like I said if you are scared or really concerned go to your doctors, they are the only ones with a sensible reason, and the might find if something is wrong.
Good Luck.

My cousin was so sick with her 2nd pregnancy that she lost alot of weight by puking & not being able to eat much. She had a healthy baby & she's doing ok too, but it lasted most of the pregnancy. Her hubby teases her because she was overweight before the pregnancy & now is slimmer, he says the baby made her even sexier! I hope you feel better soon, I hated morning sickness! If you do get really concerned there has to be some way of getting help. Sorry I don't know. I'll pray for you & your baby.

Don't worry. I didn't gain anything with my first until 8 months along. I actually lost a few pounds before gaining any.
As long as the doctor isn't saying anything to you, then it's perfectly ok to not have gained anything yet because you gain most of the weight in the 8th and 9th month. And if you can't afford to go to the baby doctor, try going to the local clinic. In my town, we have a clinic that people with no insurance or any money can go to. Or try going to your local Planned Parenthood.

Well my first pregnancy i lost 10 pounds and never gained it back but my second pregnancy i gained right from when i found out i was pregnant so it may be a cause for concern because my first pregnancy didnt make it i lost him at 21 weeks from unknown reasons dont be scared though some woman dont gain until 5 or 6 months but definetly tell your dr when you see him and i guess they dont have Medi-Cal where you are from cause medi-cal covers everything even your hospitals stays so you might wanna look into that instead of paying.

Its normal if youre having lots of morning sickness day and night. Know that your growing baby is feeding off of you and you could be losing important proteins in your muscles. However, in the coming months youre sure to gain substantially, particulary in the 3rd trimester. 30-40 lb at 9mos gain is fine. ;) Good luck and try to eat some protein and carbs as much as you can and take your prenatal vits in the evening on a full stomach. Cut the pill in half if its too nauseating and try to take it at different times during the day/night to see what hour you may tolerate it. Good luck! Healthy pregnancy and baby to you! :)
