No it wont go faster. There is no program either! If you are refering to download speeds, consider this! If you are running half dozen programs that are accessing the net, you are bound to have slower download speeds! The site you are downloading from has a big effect on how fast your download will be! Depends on their bandwidth and how many people are visiting their site. It may be that the node you are on is loaded with traffic also! It also depends on how far away they are! I would say however, if you are on DSL and your highest speed is 150 kbps , its time to find a different provider! If you are paying anymore than 15 bucks a month for that kind of service, you need to dump them and get some REAL DSL!

This might help with that problem.

Cleaning your computer.

Clean your Browser Cache:

Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Delete Cookies, Files (check mark the box for OFFline Content in the window that appears) and Clear History buttons.

Go to the Sites button by Temp. Files and change the number to 50.

Check your HD for Defragmenting:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Disk Defragmenter.

Clear Temp. Windows Files:

Exit all running programs, including browser, except your AV and AS programs. Exiting these might be necessary later (not usually).

Start>Run> type "%temp%" (no quotes)>OK>in the menu bar go to "Edit" click Select All>in the expanded menu select Delete or right click on the pane with the files highlighted and select Delete. When finished Close window.

Clear clutter in DSL modem (If used) and RAM:

Turn off the modem, computer and monitor in this order. Wait a minute or two and then restart in reverse order. Turning off he computer clears the RAM of clutter.

A router would not speed things up. It is one more device the data has to go through so it would slow it down. It would not be noticable, though. I am assuming that you are directly connected to the router and 150-45kbps is referrring to download speed. Internet speed depends on 2 things: your connection speed and the speed of the target server. If you have the fastest internet in the world (which is like 15Mbps and $400/month) but the target server only goes up to 500kpbs, then the fastest you could hope for is 500kbps.

All your tubes must be getting clogged. But seriously getting a router will only slow your internet. You don't add safe to the back of your car to make it go faster.

To answer your major question there is nothing you can do to keep your speed from dropping other than paying to get a better internet connection.
