Why do you care what other people do to there arms or their faces with tattoos or piercings or whatever? It's personal choice. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, why do you care? Are you offended by it? Then look away. I guess that whole thing about a book and its cover isn't in your philosphy. Get over it. Are you afraid they might "infect" you, make you want to run out and get a ring the size of a can of soup through your nose? It's their body, stop being so bigoted. I have several tattoos and 3 earrings, and you know what, screw you if you don't like it. I like it, and basically, what I do to my body is my business. Don't want your kids to do it? Then tell them. Otherwise, shut up.

I agree Ive got 17 tattoos but u cant see any of them if I dress normal (tshirt jeans) and I look like a regular guy. When I wear a sleeveless shirt (got tattoos all around my arms almost from elbow up) people look at me alot diff. than they did when they didnt think I really had any. Dont understand myself. John 7:24 says stop judging by appearances and make the right judgement. Oh ya My fist tattoo I ever got says...Only God Can Judge Me

As an employer, I want a conservative appearing person to represent my company. The reason is simple. Bigoted or not, people do veer away from extremes. Piercings are still perceived as extreme. Tattoos are more common, but still represent a mindset of counter culture, rebelliousness.

Standards of behavior are important for more than appearance sake. I have known very nice, responsible, friendly people with piercings and tattoos, but due to their appearance they have had to struggle for acceptance in mainstream society. The reputation of tattooed and pierced people is that of angry, anti-social, trouble-making rebels. To take on the appearance associates in regular people's minds this reputation even when there is no evidence of these behaviors.

Bully for you if you want to look this way. Doesn't bother me in the least. However, don't expect me to reward you with a job, or with instant acceptance. I take the signs of a persons appearance as indicators of the character. The same as I look at a dirty person and expect to be hassled for some spare change. The same as when I see a guy on the street talking to his image in an old CD, I expect trouble to come with him.

Conservative thought is more than bias, its based on experience.

I understand exactly what you mean. "The fear of what other people think" is one of the worst fears there are. What people think of you flat out doesn't matter. Their "thoughts" cannot physically hurt you so why sweat it? Get as many earrings and tattoos as you want! Screw what everyone else thinks!!!

Personally I don't care about what other people look like however if it is different I will look hard....borderline stare but staring is rude so I wouldn't stare, per say. But I'd look and admire. I like to see different and unique things people do to themselves. I don't judge them at all. I may not do it but I'd admire it.

stereotype, the key word to that. Often people get tatoos or piercings to individualize them selves. to make them different and the ones that are different are always the ones noticed.
