Say if me and a friend were both looking at a website, would we both be visible to the site owner as two different ISP addresses or the same because we are in the same office on the same server?

Two computers can't ever have the same IP address, but if both connect to the same router then the web site will see the router IP for both, but there are other ways they can tell the name of the computer.

It depends how the network is setup. If you use some form of Internet Connection sharing, than all of the computers will show up with the same IP address.

Most large businesses use something called NAT or Network Address Translation, that will mask the real IP addresses of its users. They can NAT every PC into a single address, or into different ones.

If it is from home, on a personal network, you would show up as the same IP address most likely. Some ISP's like AOL use a connection-based proxy though, so every time you click something on the Internet, you will most likely be viewed as coming from a different address.

The answer is no, the logic is that can one person use a number to call two person at the same time , this is also no
IP is like the phone number and the address of a computer, if someone use the same IP in two PC then there would the conflict between data transfer.

cheers,

You would not have the same IP address. Statistically speaking, it could never happen.

Technically speaking, a computer has 3 major addresses it uses. the Network IP Address, which always will begin with 192.168.X.X. The Xs can have up to three digits in there up to 254. The External IP Address, which is not easy to find yourself. That can be any number, but still following the 1.1.1.1 format.

Then there is the MAC address, the Media Access Control address. It is an alpha-numeric code that does not ever change. IP Addresses change periodically, but the MAC address won't. There is no such thing as a duplicate MAC address. It follows this format: 01-A5-FA-C6-D4-05. Letters have to be between A-F

Your company has one ip address to connect to its ISP. It then distributes its own IP address to its internal network via a server. Everyone connects to the ISP through the server.

you would each have your own IP address. But you both are on the same network. think of it as living in the same house and someone delivers a letter. The name on the letter tell who it is for. Your IP address is like the name on the letter.
