the human figure is seen as a potential temptation or distraction for man to worship it instead of the god intended in the religion.

For example: Islam stresses the use of text and words to avoid such temptation. Christianity has also banned the use of images at certain points to avoid the temptation. the Amish avoid the human "image" because they believe it is representing the likeness of God.

The human body can be seen as a pleasure bot, a machine used soley to produce sensations, but these feelings are often short and transitory and often produce negative effects.

Someone who over indulges is punished the following morning by their upset stomach. Excessive drinking leads to loss of sensory skills so the sensations become worthless. Sexual tension is caused not by bodily contact but hidden desires, so the sexual act is secondary compared to the knowledge and power of love.

However, we have bodies so I am not in agreement with radicals who believe the body should be scorned day and night. The body is a temple and an immense storage of wisdom and insight.

Be good to your body, but remember that you have a soul as well, and that ever present witness is your true nature.
