I've heard the same thing. I can't remember who or where I found this out, but the main thing you should do while in the sun, is repeat the application of sunscreen VERY often, and even if the sunscreen says "waterproof" always re-apply the sunscreen. I didn't use it when I was exposed to the sun during my youth, and I'm paying for it now. I have tons of brown blotches on my skin, and on my chest. I alway wore makeup, so that helped my face. Just re-apply OFTEN and you'll be okay. Also, you should wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.. The suns rays are much worse then when I was younger. Good Luck!! I hear one can get a spray on tan with sunscreen, if you're out in the sun. deltadawn1769@sbcglobal.net Also wear hats, ones with brims not baseball caps, they don't protect your ears or face. Also some cosmetics now contain sunscreens, but WebMD suggests putting on sunscreen under cosmetics just to make sure.

The SPF rating is what is known as the sun protection factor. The number is representative of how many hours that particular concentration will protect you from the sun. So, If you have an SPF of 45, it will protect you from the sun for 45 hours. ( that is if you do nothing that would make it come off) So obviously the higher the number the better it will protect you from the sun. It has a higher concentration.

I don't believe that it is true...cuz I am a natural blonde, and when I where a 30 I don't burn, but if I wear a 15 I can depending on the length of time I expose my skin to the sun.. I have heard that anything over a 45 is no good, but I have used it with good results.. Just remember.. sun screen does not stop you from getting skin cancer, it just stops a sun burn.

I've heard that too. However I think that assumes you have the full coating on evenly and it won't wear off while you are in the sun. If it wears out by 2/3, then 45 turns to 15, 15 turns to 5, and so on.

Sunscreen causes skin cancer like many man made chemicals. If you are very weak, do you try to lift 200 pounds? No! Start with a little weight and build your strength. So get a little sunlight and a little sunburn. Everytime you do it you get slightly darker and you will not be pale anymore. See this page about a guy with skin cancer who cured it with change in lifestyle including more sunlight. Mecola.com says lack of sunlight causes breast cancer.

I read an article about that once that said something similiar. Although it couldnt hurt to apply a higher SPF just to be sure.

not only is it true, there are other reasons why i hardly ever touch the stuff....
chemicals in the lotion that can actually accelerate cancer cells or cause cancer itself and those that use sunscreen can have vitamin d deficiency.....that is why we are seeing a rise in the deficiency.
