"Diabetics can eat most fruit. Although fruits contain natural sugars, diabetics should should choose fruits wisely, based on the glycemic index (GI), a measure of how fast carbohydrate foods (including fruit) are converted in the body to blood glucose."
"Diabetics should choose fruits that are low on the Glycemic Index (below 55) since these release sugars more slowly into the blood stream.
The ones not so good for you are High-GlycemicIndex fruits like dried dates (103) and canned fruit cocktail (79).
Fruits you can still eat but should eat less off are Intermediate-Glycemic Index fruits include banana (55); cantaloupe (65); mango (55); papaya (58); and pineapple (66).
The fruits listed below have the lowest Glycemic Index score.
An average-sized apple (GI score: 38)
Cherries (22)

Any fruit that tastes nice really!!! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
We are born with tastebuds that like sugar (clearly why breastmilk is sweet).
I wouldn't take anybody's response as gospel. When it comes to your health I would get two Dr's opinions and buy 2 books on Diabetes.
Fruits that I see my mother avoid are (she is hyperglycemic - which is too much sugar as opposed to hypoglycemic which is not enough sugar)
Bananas
Grapes
Mangoes
(and limits cherrys)
Having said all that if she exercises for a week, she can eat them and it doesn't affect her blood sugar.
I think if you exercise you may get away with alittle bit more yummy tropical fruits.
Good luck (now go for a brisk walk)
Luv
Mia

My dad is diabetic and he was told to avoid grapefruit and grapes. The reasoning I do not know, but it may also depend on the type of diabetic a person is.
