He had to know owning Midland would cost him a lot of money and not yield instant results, so why did he sell the team after only two seasons?

I don't think he lost interest in F1, I think his interest in $100m was stronger!

I can't blame him, it didn't turn out quite as he'd expected, so he got out. Hopefully Spyker can make something of the old Jordan team.

Alex Shneider didn't lose interest in F1... its just that the strategy that he had wasn't the best. For example, not only did he start by buying a lousy F1 team such as Jordan, that was behind in aerodynamic development and was not competitive with the crummy ford engines that they had. He also made a lot of mistakes by changing Friday drivers through out the season, that puts the team out of balance and makes them lose certain progress and costs them money. Furthermore, owning a privateer team is not easy. You have to rely heavily on sponsors and since his team wasn't giving the results do to a lack of competitivity in the cars and low level drivers, finding sponsors tends to get really hard, even for an F1 team. So, lets just say that he made a bad business decison and decided to amend it however he could as fast as he could.

He's a businessman and he's probably turned a quick profit by selling the team. Also, a good businessman doesn't spend his own money and he wasn't successful in attracting the expected sponsorship money from his native Russia.
