money. a quarter is 25/100 or 1/4 of a dollar. Gee, guess that's why it's called a quarter, huh? A dime is 10/100 or 1/10 of a dollar. etc etc
Ever get the reply, "It's a quarter past the hour," when you ask someone what the time is? That's 1/4 hour or 15/60 or 15 minutes. It's a fraction, right?

i work at a tire shop. I use fractions all the time. like when i am quoting a price for a customer, helping the auto technicians work on cars, calculating discounts.
i do not know where you are in life, but i must assume that you are in school. you use fractions everyday. like calculating the time when school will be out for the day or weekend or how much money it will take to take that girl on a date, and other stuff that make life easier.

I am a chef and I use fractions everyday when I read a recipe that calls for 3/4 cup of sugar and I need to make eight times the recipe.

Do you get gasoline? If you get $10.00 worth of gas I can almost guarantee that it doesn't round out to an even amount of gallons.
Just get 10 gallons? Also a fraction. (Not whole dollars.)
