Everyone should have the sense to wear a seatbelt and/or helmet without a law needing to be passed to force people to do it. Unfortunately too many people are stupid in this regard.

More people drive cars than ride motorcycles, so more deaths occur from car accidents than motorcycles. Also a motorcyclist has a really good chance of dying with or without a helmet as they are more exposed than someone in a car. It's proven that seat belts save lives. Probably not always the case with helmets.

So quit complaining and buckle up!

there is more vehicles on the road than motorcycles. Cars generally haul more than one person so there is more of a chance of someone being ejected in an accident. That is why the government mandated the law to wear seat belts. Your state had the option of riding without a helmet for decades. Motorcyclists usually ride alone so chances of them having accidents are lower than cars. Now things are changing, if you have noticed there are more motorcycles on the road than the last five years. This is due to the price of gas. Sales of Harley's have skyrocketed since their troubled years back in the 80s. My state of Missouri has a bill stuck in the house for no helmet law. It is likely something that will die. There has been exorbitant amount of accidents in the southwest portion of Missouri. The governor is from this area and he will probably veto it. All the surrounding states bordering Missouri has no helmet options but currently it is required here.

I think they are both stupid laws. They infringe on the right of free will and falls under a system of dictatorship. Laws were initially made to protect us from others and allow us our own safe environment. But I guess if you get in an accident and get hurt, then the insurance companies would have to pay and the claims could get real big depending on the injuries. Another reason is that if you die and don't leave how to pay for your owed taxes, the government won't be able to collect. These are laws set up by selfish organizations that want to have us around as long as possible to dig as much as possible out of us. I think that the only laws that should be adhered to in traffic are the ones that protect us from others- speeding, drive unsafe vehicle, drunken driving or driving with some medical problem like vision or heart condition etc.

i love this stuff..look doll set your self free.you do not ever go emotional to the cop. only if you are needing him do you go emotional with your appeal. see you are locked out of the correct way out and he has his training to get him through the ticketing offense , he's trained to give his own mother one. you on the other hand need to focus on (you are guilty to observation) at 70 mph a cop can go by and see your seat belts off. cop sees two things at the same time when your come in to view one who you are and second is the shoulder strap nexted to your face.your not visualizing his job. your in violation of his payed to enforce by your community he's percieved him self as inadiquate to do his job if he see you all the time and it gotta bug him dont you think? do you see?, you are seen and observed as violating the law.it's not just the cops that can see you won't mind the laws it's everybody else can see through your window too. you have only to give up your attitude and you are free to see that the guy on the motorcycle is a possible donnor and the thing need you to lighten up see you have to obey the laws, easy just don't judge the law just comply with it and no emotions. you will have plenty of time to understand this judgement so begin the course of accepting it and you can heal other wise you get hung up on stuff and really is you want to be the fast and the furious, take a second look at how much safety and money does go into the wild stuff. you can take some tape and wrap it around the seat belt at the point where it feels a little loose on you and wrap it around a few time so it stops there for awhile give you some slack,,if it's too restrictive in your mind.

There are more of you than there are of them . Ask the firefighters & paramedics who have to shovel the bodies (of those who chose not to wear a seat belt ) off the pavement ..
I don't believe a helmut will make much difference on a motorcycle-sometimes the whole head comes off ..at least you have a fighting chance in a seat-belt .

Hey, if you don't want to wear a seatbelt, that's cool. Just don't come cryin' to me when you get into an accident and you're left without any legs because you weren't wearing your seatbelt.

Yeah, it's a big pain in the butt.....until it saves your life...trust me. I've been there.

It must be the freedom of choice when riding, some riders say that they helmet blocks their vision making it unsafe to wear. Someone must be taking them seriously

You might want to use the spell checker provided in the upper right corner.

As of right now it is a federal law to wear seat-belts and it is up to the individual states to implement a helmet law.....

I agree with you 100%. I think it is very stupid that they are aloud to not wear helmets. IMO it is ALOT more dangerous to ride without a helmet than to ride without a seatbelt, i feel ya.

The Law in Illinois states that Motorcyclists must where glasses.

Imagine that!!! They feel it is more important to keep a bug out of the driver's eye than keeping their head from being split open. LOL

Thanks to the lawmakers!!!!!!
