I am looking to buy a 1973 or older MGB, but I cannot drive stick shift. Is it possible to convert these cars to an automatic transmission?

i own a shop of my own. when people ask me if can convert one thing to another i tell them yes, but is it cost effective. there isn't any thing you can't do if you set your mind to it. and have enough money and ability to do it.

It is possible, but it may be more cost effective to buy a civic with manual transmission. Look on the internet for automatic to manual swap. You need to buy a manual transmission, maybe axles, cylinders for clutch operation, maybe new ecu, etc. Then you need someone with the right tools and knowledge to install it all. It will cost alot of money and downtime(for the car). Like I said before, unless you're a mechanic, or have lots of cash, you should probably just buy a manual car.

I suppose anything is possible. But with this old of a car, it will cost you probably as much as the car itself. Learn to drive a stick is best solution. MGB's are made to use stick. And fun to drive with stick.

Don't waste your money trying to convert this. Too big and too expensive, if possible at all.

first you have to find out if there is an automatic transmission made for the motor that your mgb has then from there you need to get a shifter kit for automatic also called a "ratchet" shifter or b&m shifter to select the proper gear and a possible new driveshaft if the trans is a different lenth
