I have no job currently && I wanted to volunteer at my local humane society so at least I have a reference if I apply for a loan processor. I would be doing data entry at the shelter. Would that specific skill be of any help in getting a loan processing job? Do loan processors have to do a lot data entry on the computer? Thanks.

yes they do, I worked at a shelter and loved it, if you are not able to get that job, ask if you can assist, learn and take over or work your way up, working at the shelter is something you will always remember and really enjoy.

Loan processors do very little on the computer other than possibly filling out a loan application. If you are interested in becoming a loan processor, look for a job as a loan officer assistant or become a loan officer. (Sales and/or marketing experience will help you get into it.)Your local junior college may have a class on mortgages. You need to learn the lingo and understand the entire "process" of taking a loan from origination to funding. A job in banking or something relating to finance would be a much better direction than data entry work in an unrelated field.

I think it would be great. It shows you are proficient with computers (include the programs that you use), your words per minute. Your reference can confirm that you are always on time for work, and have a positve attitude, etc. Loan processors have to be persistant with applicants, able to analyze information, and meet deadlines. Your data entry skills can help you too.
