So i'm Latino, and i don't agree with Affirmative Action.
Latinos are more prejudiced than whites?
I think everyone has their prejudices, and it's okay to have them as long as you don't act upon them.
And it's not true that Latinos and Blacks can get welfare just by showing up at the welfare office, i know a lot of people who really need welfare and because they make 10 more dollars they can't get it, even though they really do need it.
So now you're going to say Whites pay for it, and why should Latinos and Blacks get it? Because illegal immigrants pay taxes, and get nothing in return.
It's unfair that Blacks and Hispanics get their own magazines and TV channel? that makes no sense since there are way more Anglo mags. and channels. And what about Asian tv channels..i watch em even though i don't understand because i'm open to diversity. Equality doesn't necessarily mean being the same, it's having the same opportunities.
And it's not okay for a black or hispanic to **** up in a job, i don't even know where you're getting that from? They get fired just as much as any other races do.

Thomas Jefferson said in a correspondence to Oliver Ellsworth about Majority Rules and Democracy.
"Why should a minority suffer by the hand of the majority? Why should the majority suffer by the hand of a minority?"
He goes on and elaborated that it will be difficult to make a system of government to prevent the two questions.
This is why Jefferson and Franklin both proposed the system of Federalism that we have today. They understood that people "vote with their feet." This was very true in the country's beginnings when the States had more power than they have now. Thus the name United States of America"
So what does this have to do with the question?
Well simply there is no need for affirmative action. Affirmative action was a political move started by Kennedy and LBJ to guarantee the black electoral for the Democratic Party.
The problem is that the system of government was already set up to solve this problem.
How can a system of government especially Federalism solve this problem of racism?
Let us look at the two great migrations of blacks from the south to the north.
Both migrations caused drastic changes in government especially the second migration starting in the late 50's and ending in the 70's. First of all, the population of blacks leaving the south was so extreme that the southern States loss precious representation in the House of Representatives since the number of Representatives was based on populations of states. This cause these states to receive less in Federal subsidies than they previously had. Second, loss of electoral votes in Presidential Elections was heavy. Third the loss of people capital which decreased profits due to higher overhead costs. This drastic change that occurred over many years promoted the changes needed in the South.
Sorry it was not just The Civil Rights Movement that changed anything. Affirmative Action has not changed anything.
What Affirmative action has done is cause greater racial tensions not based on ignorance but rather policy.
The real reason for Affirmative Action is to cause this new type of racial tension. To keep people divided is convenient for politicians. Politicians have created a policy that causes tension in a population to draw attention from them ans other activities that they are involved in.
Today's racism is a matter of convenience.

Affirmative action was created to balance out the bias-ted system of the colleges use for acceptance of students, GPA, Tests, and Class, not to make up for what our ancestors did to the slaves. Minorities are often discriminated against by our College's entrance policies and Affirmative Action forces colleges to go from have a 95% White student population to have about a 65-75% white student population, and forces the colleges to allow in more minorities, but when you consider the fact that the difference between the minority populations and white majority is less than 10% total difference I would think that it doesn't do enough to make it more fair seeing that the white population of the US isn't at 70% anymore yet the population of colleges is around 70% white. To fix it they need to come up with an entrance procedure that is based on merit, need, potential, and success and not based on how good of an education someone got from an unfair public education system.

Backinbow is wrong! There was a time when affirmative action was needed, that time has come and gone. Now it is just a way to make it legal to discriminate against the white race, especially males. This does not make me or the person asking the question a racist. It makes us thinkers. People who look around and actually see and understand what is going on.

Good question. Affirmative action is nothing more than unconstitutional socialism imposed on a free people. The Constitution guarantees us equal protection of the law, and 'affirmative action' is just a devious way of saying enforced racial discrimination.
Vote Libertarian or Constitutionalist. Either party is vastly superior to the two tyrannies that enslave us now.

The reason we need bet and magazines is cuz rolling stones and mtv would not play our musik or even advertise our movies or actors in there magazines. And the reason we need affirmative action is because white ppl had 400 yrs ahead of us and now because these things are causeing ppl like jay-z,nas,bob johnson, russel simmons and etc to start or work in a succesful company ppl like you are angry about it and it is not our fault. That your own government decided it was best that affirmative be put into affect because they themselves knew that our ppl would not get a job because of there skins and the only reason.Affirmative action is getting to you because you feel inferior to ppl of other races and you feel affirmative action only helps them even more get over it cause the more you show hate the more we get more programs to help our ppl. thank you insecure fema aka white ppl

We all inherit sin. A child whose father raped is called a rapist`s son.. Affirmative action is not for indefinite period. A physically challenged person gets some respite. Same with a racially challenged .

What can we do about the UNFAIR 60% cap on total Asian students in the University of California network? The rule is that once UC's student population reaches 60% Asian American, UC will not accept another Asian American who would qualify with high SAT/ACT scores, GPA, community svc, etc. Every applicant who qualifies in this meritocracy should be accepted!

EVERY word you wrote indicates that you are a classic example of someone just DRIPPING with prejudice. It is exactly the kind of attitude you approach the question itself with that EXPLAINS WHY we need affirmative action; that is, because of people like YOU.
