On paper the Sox easily outclassed the rest of the Central. Who was going to predict Maur hitting .350, Morneau having a monster break out year. I personally would MUCH rather have Morneau than Ortiz. Then you have Liriano coming out of nowhere and being one of the hottest pitchers in the game much of the year. Santana having a 2nd excellent year cementing him as one the top pitchers in the game right now.

Did you honestly predict Shelton to half carry the Tigers offensively in the first half. That Ordenez was not only going to come off 2 years of injuries and have a good year? Nate Robertson looks like he's having a career year. Verlander came out of almost nowhere to be a crucial part of the Tigers winning. Then there is Kenny Rogers. Nobody not even Kenny knows what to expect from him at the start of a season LOL.

At the start of the year the AL Central looked like a run between the Indians and the Sox. Predicting what happened this year with not just one team but 2 teams getting extroidenary lifts from rookies or players just establishing themselves in the same division is pretty rare. That the Whitesox would play so poorly is a big surprise. Buehrle in particuler had the worst season of his career. The Indians suffered a complete pitching meltdown despite having some promising young pitchers. Had either of those teams played up to capability it might have been a whole different division.

I've never been to Chicago btw.

i have to say no.

i thought they would get into the postseason, mabye further, but repeating is so hard to do now. everyone is watching you, trying to beat you, knows what your players are capable of.

And to win the world series, you really almost have to play above yourselves (white sox pitching last year vs this year)

Nah, though they did come close but still, nawwww. It will be 100 more years before they ever win again.

last year was a fluke for them, and it will be another 88 years before they win the world series again.
