It's ok to laugh.
I was deathly afraid of what I thought was a Voodoo cult that gathered outside of my window at night. I had watched the classic James Bond movie "Live and Let Die" and shortly after that I began hearing what I thought were Voodoo drums outside of my window. It was a full year before I learned it was a pumping unit that was fireing making the "drumming" sound. That was the main thing that really frightened me as a child. Pretty silly huh?
Told ya' you could laugh.

I was afraid of "the monster under my bed". My brother used to make me terrified that there was one and the only way to keep him from getting me was to keep my blanket on. Of course, now yes I know that was just a clever cruel way of him making sure I stayed wrapped up during the night. But even now as a 31 yr year old, I cannot fall asleep unless I have a blanket or sheet covering me, no matter the temperature. It's not that I'm still afraid of the monster, lol.. just a force of habit now.

I was afraid when I was downstairs and I turned the lights off as I was coming up the stairs.I would look behind me and get completely freaked out and I would run up them stairs as fast as I could every time.
I was also afraid to let my feet hang over the edge of the bed for fear that something was going to grab them and drag me down under the bed.

I was afraid of anything that might jump on me - like a grasshopper or a cricket. I was also afraid of frogs. I was also scared of people with scary or mean eyes. I was afraid of the dark. Deep, dark water. Open closet doors at night. Sleeping with dolls at night that their eyes did not close - so they looked like they were staring at you. Someone being under the bed at night, reaching up over the mattress and grabbing me. Crazy people. Interestingly enough - not scared of monsters! LOL

As child, I lived next to a funeral parlor, I used to walk to the movie theater and come home late at night. There was no danger that I was aware of, so I did not get scared. If anything I had an adult cousin who was shy a few marbles. That was scary sometimes when he would mouth off, but it made me mad more than scared.

Sorry about that.

Afraid of walking from my neighbors to my house after dark even though we lived about 100 yards away. I would call my mom and tell her to put the porch light on and I would run home soooo fast!

I experienced a minor earthquake as a child and envisioned it to be a giant bumblebee spanking it's young atop my bookshelf. I don't even know how long I was afraid of a bee spanking me. Also, I thought that gravel could swallow me like quicksand.
