That person is not so great, so they must try to tear others down to feel important. Be careful not to become as they are.
If possible, I would disassociate myself from such a person. Maintain your dignity. Additionally, I would enlist the support of allies to reinforce my self-esteem by explaining to the allies why this person is not trustworthy.
If the opinion of the people being deceived concerned me, I would find a way to help the people the offender is fooling to understand they are being tricked, and may soon become the next target of the offender's games and tricks.
Effectively, the perception of this person will become diminished in the eyes of people who really matter. Reinforce your position and wait for the appropriate time and place to confront this person for their transgressions.
Such a person is not worthy of your concern, but the people that he or she is influencing may be, and if they are worthy, deserve to understand the treacherous nature of the offender.
