Medication only stays in your system for as long as they tell you to wait until you take a new pill, plus a couple hours. Usually with in 24 hours you're fine. So don't worry. and as for helping with your cw, it's usually best to get somethign specifically designed for that purpose.

You shouldn't use Robi, just take plain Guaifenesin if you want to improve your CM quality. Years ago, Robi was recommended to improve CM because it contained Guaifenesin, which at that time was not available over the counter. However, this is not good advice today because plain Guaifenesin *is* now available over the counter, but it's hard to find Guaifenesin in Robi. You can stand in the drugstore all day squinting at those labels on the 100 different kinds of Robi, and you'll find that some of them don't contain Guaifenesin at all, and those that do will have other active ingredients as well.

Here's my standard Robi spiel:

Robi is commonly recommended for fertility because it can improve the quality of cervical mucus (CM).

To conceive, you need for your CM to be plentiful, watery, and slippery (like egg white, so it's called EWCM). CM will become EWCM around ovulation, and will be thick and sticky the rest of the month. Many women have trouble conceiving because of poor CM quality at the time of ovulation. Drinking a lot of water will help if you have poor CM.

Guaifenesin (the ingredient people are talking about when they mention Robitussin for fertility) is an expectorant, in other words it loosens mucus and phlegm so you can cough it up. Guaifenesin will improve CM quality for the same reason, it makes it thinner and runnier.

If you take Guaifenesin to improve CM, *don't* go gulping down a bunch of Robitussin. a) Of all the different varieties of Robi, there doesn't seem to be one that has Guaifenesin as the only active ingredient, b) Guaifenesin is not even in most kinds of Robi at all, and c) Some ingredients used in some varieties of Robi are associated with birth defects.

Not to mention it tastes horrible and is expensive.

Instead, buy plain Guaifenesin tablets which are now available over the counter. Originally people bought Robi to get Guaifenesin because plain Guaifenesin wasn't available over the counter.

Hope that helps,
Maureen

Honey, don't do that.... My doctor told me I was "off my rocker" when I told him about the robi.. That's when he started me on clomid. After 3 long years of trying to have a baby it took 4 months on the clomid and we now have a beautiful healthy 7 month old. Please stop taking that junk and go get some sleep. I will keep you in my prayers and wish you all the luck in the world. Just stop with the robi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only way for you to know if you are ovulating is to take your basal body temp each morn, same time and before you get up. You should see a pattern in temps that leads up to and after ovulation. You can get the basal thermometer at Wal-Mart for about 8 dollars. I use a wonderful FREE website called Fertilityfriend.com...it graphs your temps for you, keeps track of your fertility signs, tells you when you ovulate and also tells you if there is an implantation dip in your temps. You can also use Ovulation prediction kits, but they only measure your LH surge and give you a ball park time for ovulation...they do not pin point it. Oh, and it is possible to be ovulating while you do not have your period, just like it is possible to have a period and not ovulate.

i don't think robitussin is harmful. b/c when i got sick when i was pregnant, my doctor said is was safe to use any kind of robitussin. and i have no idea how robitussin would help you conceive.

it's like believing a rumor that putting mayonaise in your hair makes it healthier. i knew someone who actually tried that. that is so stupid.

don't worry
robotussin does not hurt the baby
take plainrobotussin, with no letters after it, just the plain one

u are supposed to take it three tieaspoons A DAY, not one a day

take it till after you ovulate

it thins out your cervical fluid so sperm swimms faster to the egg

i've been taking it too

don't worry. A lot of women do a lot worse than take robitussin when trying to get pregnant! If it works great, if not don't worry!
