It also had to do with where the immigrants came from in the Old World. England outlawed slavery in 1819. So the Southerns probably came from the European Continent, like Spain. Places that still used slaves for industry.
It was definitely a different mind set North and South America. It also stands to reason that the immigrants from European Countries found the American South a good place to grow agriculture.

It wasn't geography but inviorment.Southern people needed workers who could work in that climate. Are you in grammar school Read about the Civil war. the library doesn't charge for books.
