You should try washing your face every night before you go to bed. I used to have a problem with pimples but after my mom told me to start washing my face before bed and I did the pimples began to go away. Now I don't have a problem anymore. And if that doesn't help you can always go see a skin doctor about it, and they could possibly give you medicine to help clear up your acne(I have a friend that did that) Good luck!

It's not an either/or proposition. You can see a dermatologist and try Proactiv.
First of all, make sure you are washing your face twice a day. However, don't use harsh products or wash your face too much, because this can overdry your skin.
Second, everything you put on your face should say "noncomedogenic". This means that it doesn't cause acne.
Third, change the sheets on your bed on a regular basis. I think once a week is good. After all, your face touches these for about a third of the day!
Fourth, don't spend too much time in the sun or tanning beds. These can dry the skin, not to mention that they can give you skin cancer later.
Fifth, keep your hands away from your face and avoid touching your face too much. Your hands have bacteria on them that can cause acne.
Sixth, don't pop the zits or blackheads unless you are absolutely sure that your face will look better afterward. Popping them always leaves a raised red mark and it damages the skin underneath so that it takes longer to heal. My face usually looks a lot better if I just leave it alone.
If you are already following all of these pieces of advice and you still have problems with your pimples, go ahead and try Proactiv and/or see the doctor.
And, please remember that your pimples probably seem like a much worse problem to you than they do to others. If you think about it, you'll probably agree that other people's pimples don't bother you much. Other people aren't really noticing yours either. Keeping a proper perspective can help you to get on with your life.
(By the way, I use Proactiv, and I think it works very well, but it hasn't completely eliminated all of my zits. It is also expensive.)

You could try the proactiv 1st and return it if it does not work. Then go to the doctor. It depends on your insurance and what is cheaper. if you have huge copays or no insurance the proactiv might be cheaper to try 1st. It is okay and simple effective skin care. You can get it from them or from http://www.qvc.com if you do not want to join the skin care club. People on ebay are selling it too, but then you cannot return it and you have to be careful who you buy from.

Dont worry too much about it! Ive had pimples from the time I was 11, and they got really, really bad during high school.(pizza face, anyone??) But they can be controlled, in a way.
Keep your face clean, obviously.
Start off washing with plenty of warm water, then lather up lots of soap, (careful it dosnt get in your eyes!) and rinse with cold water. you will feel the difference instantly. Do this regulary, but not too often, as you will damage your skin if its too dried out.
Best of luck, and remember, you WILL grow out of it!!

ur daily skin care regime should include CTM - cleanse tone moisturise
ur special skin care regime (to be done once every week) should include scrubbing, steaming, applying a face pack depending on ur skin type.
use a cold face towel or spritz cold water on ur face several times a day to minimise pores.
eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits and veggies and drink tons of water to avoid zits.
