I've never heard of using whiskey, but I always make honey and lemon syrup. Mix 1/4 c of honey with 1 tsp of lemon and heat on low in the oven until its liquid. Don't forget to use an oven safe container. I don't really see the need for the whiskey.

No cough suppresant is any more effective than sucking on a hard candy. The wiskey may make you feel better, the honey may feel soothing to the throat The sugar in the rock candy just adds sweetner (which the honey could do by itself.)
Keeping the body well hydrated helps. Keeping the room moist enough in heating season, and dry enough in moist weather will cut down on irritation to the nasal passages and throat that may stimulate coughing. If infection is producing the coughing it will pass when the infection clears up. If congestion is the problem, an expectorant is recommended to make the cough more productive in eliminating phlegm.

There was 10 of us kids in my family and when any of us came down with any kind of childhood illness my mother always pulled out grandma little book or notes of old time home remedies. They worked very well back then as well as today. The rock candy and whiskey with a drop of lemon was #1. My kids grew up on these home remedies and are treating their kids today and it still works.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU5ES

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

When I was a bartender we used to serve
this all the time for cough and colds.
Its sold as Rock n' Rye - you serve it in a cup with hot water and honey,
It will make you sweat that cold away.
It really works as weird as that might sound.

Rock And Rye Cold Remedy

It's a variation of the old standby "Cold tea". Hot tea with honey, lemon juice and a touch of whiskey. It works but other than the throat lining honey, I don't know why.

Actually, it does not, and niether do the over-the-counter remedies you'll find in your local supermarket or drugstore. That's because your homemade remedy only affects the oral cavity, throat and stomach, whereas the cause of your cough is in your lungs. Those other "cough suppressants" were the subject of a recent massive study which showed them to be no more effective than a glass of lemonade. Severe coughing can be suppressed by one prescription drug, and that has to be used VERY sparingly - that drug is codiene. The reason it has to be used sparingly is that you actually NEED to cough to keep the lungs and bronchial tree clear of secretions in the case of a bad cold - 'cause if you don't cough 'em up, they'll pool in the lungs and can lead to a deadly case of pneumonia.
