Wet Back is a derogatory term for illegal Mexicans. The expression comes from them swimming over the Rio Grande to get to the USA

Wet backs is what people around the turn of the 20th century called illegal Mexican immigrants. It derives from the fact that, at least along the Texas border, Mexicans had to swim across the Rio Grande to get into the country.

A wet back is what you get when you get caught hiking in the mountains and a sudden shower drenches you. You also get a wet front, a wet top and a wet bottom.

And we really don't need questions like this, that perpetuate derogatory categorizations.
