Science is changing.
So also, the atomic theories. Does a single atom of an element say, Sulphur contain its COLOR? The element carbon doesn't have the shining brilliance of the Diamond.
With regard to the question given, Here is an authentic Definition:
"A substance containing only one type of atom or one type of molecule is a PURE SUBSTANCE"

Molecules of most elements are made up of only one of atom of that element. Oxygen, along with nitrogen, hydrogen, and chlorine are made up of two atoms.
