I had a lump (benign) which was removed by needle extraction last May(about 10cc), I had a follow-up mammogram and breasts ultrasound just this month and follow-up check-up visit to the doctor. The result was he gave me 2 options, to have the remaining liquid (lump), it looked like a 'pus', removed by needle extraction or to undergo an operation to remove the left-over lump, local anaesthesia in the operating room.

I would weigh your options of both. From experience, I would choose to take it out. I had one lump removed and eventhough there is a scar and scar tissue I feel confident it is gone. The other, I had the needle asperation and lump is still there and I feel nervouse about having it checked. The operation for the removal does not cause any additional discomfort, at least in my case. Best wishes to you.

Having it taken out with just the needle would be cheaper and less painful. That's what I would do.
