If I had bought it I would probably replace the hard drive and install the operating system of my choice. You will also need to reinstall drivers for all of your basic hardware, including the video card, audio card, CD-ROM drive, motherboard, etc. and hopefully you got the CDs with the computer.

If you don't have these your friendly neighborhood computer shop could probably get the drivers for you and install them.

You can also format the old hard drive and reinstall the operating system, but I think a new hard drive would be a cleaner approach. The drawback to doing that is that you may not have gotten the software, including the OS, with the tower and that would be a problem.

A lot depends on what you got beside the computer. I would not buy a Windows computer without the operating system installation software unless I was getting it for one heck of a bargain price.

1. the easiest is a format.
2. manual work.

for manual work, you can go to add/remove programmes in control panel to remove unwanted applications then go to C:\Program Files\ to delete their folders.

Next is to go to the My Documents where i assume most people will stor their stuffs. delete what is unwanted. That's about it. the most simple.

if u r really new to computing, then i suggest that u really juz uninstall program and delete those unwanted files in My Documents. Don't bother with Program Files if u r not sure. no harm keeping it there.

Did it come with any CD's? I would reformat and start with a clean version of windows.
