When I drive to work my car smokes a little bit and puts out an odor that smells like burning plastic. also when I give gas it putt-putts, as if it doesnt want to go anywhere!

Sounds like you could have a wire or wires touching the exhaust system. Look under the hood and see if any wires are touching the exhaust manifold. If you aren't comfortable doing that get a mechanic to check it for you. Should be a cheap easy fix unless you let it go and burn the car up.

Sounds like you are in real need of a tune up - change the plugs, plug wires, and the distributor. Might fix both of those symptoms.

you have a spark plug wire on the exhaust manifold or some wires are "cross-firing" which means they are sparking outside the wire not traveling the whole lenth to the plug
