There are pedestals...........and then there are pedestals.

Usually the term "pedestal" is used as some sort of general romantic notion of perfection and/or performance...........like seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.........except the "world" is a person.

The down-sides of the "pedestal affect" are experienced by both sides...............with disappointment a near certainty.

HOWEVER..........the OPPOSITE of putting someone on a pedestal is looking at them in a skeptical or cynical way......in other words, beginning a relationship with basic dis-trust and extremely LOW expectations.

If someone wants to know fairness and justice.....it's best to simply look these words up in the dictionary.....because that's about the only way you will find them in real-life.

We all have ideals.........people either fit into them or not......we all have needs and expectations of others........people either fit into those needs and expectations or not.

We aren't fair to ourselves........we aren't fair to others.......and the world of people around us are hardly fair with us.

BUT.............there is a bright side !!!!!

Because life and people and love are basically so unfair......we are basically absolved of guilt as long as we TRY.

So...........if someone ever puts you onto a pedestal.......and you'd like to try to stay there...........ask them for some help.

Maybe you can BOTH change the rules for each other......and enjoy a view that many of us have not......and may not.....ever see.

I think people feel lucky sometimes that other people let them into that person's life if only for a moment in time. When those peope are honest with you it sounds like they are putting you on a pedestal when in fact they are just trying to be honest with you. It is not always easy to take a compliment but once in a while they are sincere. And maybe just maybe they are hoping you will fall off that pedestal so they can catch you and prove to you that you can trust them. They want you to trust them.
